An accused murderer who eluded capture in Lubbock and was later arrested near Fort Worth, was arraigned on federal charges Monday.
Vernon Gilmore appeared in Lubbock federal court Monday morning to hear federal firearms and carjacking charges. Gilmore is accused of shooting at a Wolfforth police officer and attempting to carjack several residents at a trailer park, before finally stealing a truck back in April.
Gilmore also faces state capital murder charges for the murder of Rex McGuire. You may recall, McGuire was found shot to death in his home. Gilmore was tied to the case, after he tried to cash a check on the victim's bank account.
