Dogs are proving to be more than just man's best friend. A new study shows they can be great personal trainers!
Researchers at the University of Missouri have been looking into this, and they have found that people who make a commitment to walk their dog, whether they plan this or not end up with increased exercise and weight loss. Part of it they say is the bonding with a dog can be a great motivator to continue a walking program. In this case, the study participants who walked up to 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 50 weeks, lost an average of 15 pounds.
