Don't forget, for Halloween, you can leave something in your mailbox that will open the world for someone else, glasses. The Lions Club is again teaming up with the postal service to round up old prescription glasses this Halloween. So they can be recycled and reused by those who need, but can not afford glasses in other countries. Don't worry if your old glasses are broken. Just put them in your mailbox. The postal service will get them to Lens Crafters, where they can work magic on those old frames.
"We clean glasses up, make sure that they are clean and usable, make sure that they're straight, make sure that they're something you would wear," says Connie Lopez at Lens Crafters.
The doctors from Lens Crafters all go out and volunteer their time and go to third world countries and distribute them out. So, don't forget Halloween is sight night, but you can start tomorrow, if you like. Just leave your old glasses in your mailbox anywhere across the South Plains, and they'll be fixed and delivered to someone who needs them. Even sunglasses or drug store magnifying glasses. Either the frame or the lens can be used from any old glasses you have.
