A North/East Lubbock construction project has 90 days to get back on track.
At it's last meeting, the Lubbock City Council voted to withhold $250,000 from the Lubbock North and East Community Development Corporation until a land rights dispute was settled. The corporation wants to build houses at Kings Dominion but does not own the mineral rights to oil wells on the land.
A number of pastors from north and east Lubbock congregations expressed their concerns during Thursday's city council meeting.
"All we're asking you to do is be accountable to the fact we want East Lubbock to be as equitable as other parts of Lubbock," said one pastor.
Council has decided to fund the North and East Lubbock CDC another $62,500. But, that money is contingent upon the mineral rights issue being resolved within 90 days.
