Driver Captured After Allegedly Fleeing From Police

Lubbock Sheriff's deputies say a driver ran a red light and kept "running," and ended up hitting a fence at 91st and University.

The incident happened around 2:30am Friday morning. Deputies tried to pull the driver over after he ran a red light at South Loop 289 and University. The driver turned off his headlights and drove away, leading deputies and police on a high speed chase. After crashing into the fence, the driver ran away on foot but was arrested at 94th and Akron.

The driver, Artemio Gomez, is now in the Lubbock County jail charged with possession of marijuana and evading arrest.
