Tuesday afternoon, Texas Rangers and the Lubbock Police Department arrested Thomas Wayne Carrol, aka “Bubba”, without incident, at the Salvation Army shelter in Lubbock.

Lubbock investigators found the stolen Dodge Dynasty belonging to Carrol’s assault victim, Dennis Irons early Tuesday morning. The two juveniles driving the stolen vehicle were arrested, following a brief chase that ended near 26th and Avenue L.

Investigators then followed leads developed from this arrest that led them to Carrol’s discovery at the Salvation Army.

Carrol is currently being held at the Lubbock County Jail, on charges out of Hall County. Carrol was being sought following the assault of an elderly Memphis resident, Dennis Irons, on October 25th. Irons was critically injured and is recovering in an extended care facility.

Carrol was captured due to the tireless efforts of the Memphis Police Department, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Childress Police Department, the Childress County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers. Their efforts aided in the Lubbock investigation and in the resulting capture of Carrol.
