Ronald McDonald Volunteers Build Playground In One Day

The Ronald McDonald house of Lubbock serves our community by housing hundreds of families that have children in the hospital. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta show us how today, the Lubbock community is giving back. More than 150 volunteers will build the house a new playground in just one day.

Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House will have access to the playground once it's complete. The playground, designed by children, will feature a variety of slides, swings, benches and even a playhouse.

Home Depot, a non-profit organization called Kaboom! and Ronald McDonald House are coming together to make the playground a reality. A board-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald House where volunteers will unveil their progress. The public is invited to attend. The Ronald McDonald House is located at 1212 Indiana Avenue.
