A stroke left Deborah Anaya paralyzed in her left hand, but her fingers can certainly move now. She is the first patient in this area to receive the new Bioness H200. It is an advanced prosthesis with a control unit that stimulates five muscles in the hand, which can eventually allow the patient to grasp and even lift objects again.
"It's phenomenal. It gave me hope again, which allows me to hopefully to work again," says Deborah Anaya a stroke patient using the Bioness arm.
"And if you think about it five years down the road the external stimulator devices will probably be inserted into the muscular tissue so you wont even see it," says Dr. Roger Wolcott at Covenant Rehab. Covenant is one of just three hospitals in Texas offering the new Bioness H200 to its rehab patients.
