A Lubbock mother of three is dead, and her family is asking why. 27-year-old Michele Lovato was found stabbed to death in her estranged husband's van. The van was found in an empty field around 9am Saturday. Police say Steven Lovato allegedly kidnapped Michele from her house at 2910 Fordham around 3am. Police say he then confessed to a relative that he killed her - and led police to her body. Michele's family says now there are three kids left without a mother or a father.
"She meant the world to us, she was a mother, a daughter, a sister - she was the best person. She was loved by everybody," Joanna Ramos said .
"She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve to die like that," Ruben Ramos said.
"He took my sister - God forgive him, because i don't know if i can," Ruben said.
Michele was a nursing student at South Plains College. Police say Michele and Steven were in the process of a divorce. Steven is currently being held on a $600,000 bond at the Lubbock County Jail. He is charged with murder and aggravated kidnapping.
