Businessman Interested in Representing District 83

The run for State Representative for District 83 has drawn another opponent. Lubbock businessman Van Wilson says he is strongly considering running against Delwin Jones in the 2006 election. Wilson has been active in state legislative issues, but now he wants to represent our area. And he says because of his knowledge and energy he's the person for the job.

"Harris County alone has more representatives than there are representatives West of I-35. We don't have the numbers so we've got to be energetic - we've got to be effective in Austin in order to benefit West Texas," Van Wilson said.

Delwin Jones has said he will seek re-election.

Former Lubbock City Councilman Frank Morrison announced last month on NewsChannel 11 that he will also run for the state office.

The election is set for May 2006.
