You will soon need to take some extra pennies with you to the post office.

The cost of mailing a letter is going up. Tuesday, the postal service approved a 5% increase for most rates and fees. First class stamps will go from $0.37 to $0.39. Postcard postage will increase $0.01 to $0.24. It's the first hike since June 2002 and will go into effect January 8th.
