Lubbock County Jail on Lock Down For Nearly Four Hours

The Lubbock County Jail was on official lock down for nearly four hours. It all started with a power outage around 2pm Thursday afternoon. While lock down is not uncommon, being on lock down because of a power outage is rare. A generator usually kicks in, but the generator blew out just after the power failure.

Officers have a lock down procedure, which includes doing a manual head count to make sure no body escapes. All inmates at the jail were accounted for.

The lock down also postponed the arraignment of murder suspect Steven Lovato. That's because during lock down, no inmates can leave the building under any circumstances. Lovato is accused of stabbing his estranged wife, Michele, to death earlier this week.
