Thursday is "National Thaw Your Turkey Day" which means if you have a 28 pound bird for Thanksgiving, you need to start thawing it today.
The rule for thawing is that it takes one day for every 4 pounds or bird. And Butterball experts say if you forget to thaw your turkey in the fridge, or if you need it sooner than Thursday, you can submerge it in water. Just be sure to change the water every 30 minutes.
Also, never let your turkey thaw at room temperature, because that could bring bacteria.
