More than 1,000 bikers headed into the Depot District Sunday brining Christmas gifts for less fortunate children in our area. Santa's leather-clad, soft-hearted, toy-bearing helpers took off from Wild West Harley Davidson as part of the annual Toys for Tots Ride. There were so many bikers involved that parts of Loop 289 had to be blocked off.
"Bikers have the most generous hearts, they take the money out of their pockets and put in place of their hearts so that other people can have a fantastic Christmas," said owner of Wild West Harley Davidson, Larry Hay.
The ride benefits the Toys for Tots, which is an annual nationwide campaign sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. It provides needy children with a brand new toy for Christmas.
