For the first time in four months, the cost of living in Lubbock is decreasing.
The cost of living decreased .6% in October. The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance says a drop in gas prices is helping to stabilize the economy.
"I think the old days of getting gas for a dollar a gallon is over forever and so we're probably looking at maybe $1.75. That's probably where it will drift to and then stick there. It hurts but at least we can afford it, and its not $3 a gallon," L.E.D.A. CEO Gary Lawrence said.
Consumers, however, are paying more to heat their homes. Utility prices increased 8%.
