Another rabies alert Tuesday, this time an injured fox has tested positive for rabies.
The city health department says the fox was lying on a driveway in northeast Lubbock. And since the fox had a skunk odor, there is likely a skunk in that area that is about to die of rabies as well.
So, this reminder tonight...rabies can occur in a variety of wild animals and can spread to your pets from a bite or even a scratch if they have not been vaccinated for rabies. Then, a pet owner can get rabies just by kissing an infected animal on the face.
As yet, no human cases have been reported in Lubbock county. Just be aware that there is this risk.
