Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, can make the difference between life and death, but if you've ever done it, you know it can be tiring. So, it's hard to be sure that every chest compression is moving as much blood as the one before. Here is what is new to help each chest compression be consistent.
It's called the Autopulse Strap made by Zoll Medical Corporation, and it straps around the torso of a heart attack patient. So, the band compresses the chest to an ideal depth, moving the optimum amount of blood through the body. It is hands-free, and it allows the paramedics to provide other therapies to the patient. It is available nationwide, but not in Lubbock yet.
