Fire Place Suspected in Starting House Fire

Trying to keep warm may have cost a Lubbock family their home until repairs can be made. Fire fighters from New Deal, Shallowater and Lubbock responded to a call of smoke at a home in the 9600 block of north Boston around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night. The owners arrived just minutes later and tell NewsChannel 11 they had a fire in the fire place and thought they had put it out. Investigators think some embers may have still been burning because it appears that is where the fire started.
