Parents now have the right to transfer their kids from seven Lubbock ISD schools. That's because only 50% or less of students on those campuses passed portions of the Texas Assesment of Knowledge and Skills test, over the last three years.
Seven Lubbock schools are on that list, they include: Bean, Brown, Dupre, Guadalupe and Wolffarth Elementaries, and Slaton Junior High. The state now requires the school district to send a letter to parents allowing them to transfer campuses with more acceptable ratings. LISD must send out that notification by February 1st.
821 Texas schools have unacceptable ratings, allowing a record 575,000 students to transfer.
