A Levelland intersection remains blocked after a school bus collided with a cement truck on Highway 114 and Alamo, Friday afternoon.
The snow was just starting to fall around 3 o'clock, Friday afternoon, when the vehicles collided. Nearly two dozen students were injured. Twenty-four students were taken to the hospital in Levelland and the driver was taken to a Lubbock hospital with multiple lacerations to his face.
There is a traffic light at the intersection, where the accident occurred, but it's uncertain which driver caused the accident. When the cement truck and school bus collided, the school bus hit a pole and the truck landed on its side.
"From the indications of the skid mark on pavement, it does look like the bus driver may have saw the cement truck coming, and started veering to avoid it," said Levelland Police Chief Toney Cowan.
The accident is causing traffic delays on Highway 114, so drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if at all possible.
