Democrat Joins Race For District 85 - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A Crosby County Judge wants to be the man to succeed State Representative Pete Laney.

"I'm asking for your support, I'm asking for your vote, together we can work to preserve our West Texas way of life," said Joe Heflin.

Democrat Joe Heflin announced his candidacy for State Representative District 85 Tuesday. The district includes sixteen counties including Crosby, Terry, Lynn and Garza.

Laney has held the seat since 1973 but will not be seeking re-election. Plainview businessman Jim Landtroop is also running for District 85 on the Republican ticket.
