A runaway steam roller left a brief path of destruction in North Lubbock Thursday.
It happened around one o'clock Thursday afternoon on the North Loop, just West of University. According to police, a construction worker was alone as he tried to load the steam roller onto a flat bed trailer. Somehow he miscalculated, and the equipment rolled off the side, and ran over his right foot. The steam roller continued down the road and crashed through a guard rail, where it came to rest, dangling over the Canyon Lakes River system.
Police believe the steam roller's engine was engaged during all this. Paramedics took 54-year old David Allan Johnson to University Medical Center for treatment. Right now, his condition is still under evaluation.
