More and more candidates are filing to run in the March primaries as the January 2nd deadline fast approaches.
Wednesday, Justin Martin, of Slaton, announced his candidacy for County Commissioner Precinct Two. Martin is an Ag instructor at Slaton High School and owns a cattle company. If elected, Martin says he would work hard to ensure rural communities have good fire protection and better roads.
"I think I can bring a fresh, open mind to the table and deal with some of the issues that need to be dealt with in a manner which they should be dealt with," said Martin.
Martin is running on the Democratic ticket, and so far, is unopposed. Republican James Kitten currently holds the seat, but he has indicated he will not be seeking re-election.
