Fire Scorches Grassland In Northeast Lubbock County

Firefighters from New Deal, Roosevelt and Idalou spent the afternoon containing a grass fire in Northeast Lubbock County.

Investigators suspect a cigarette may have sparked the blaze around 4pm Thursday afternoon.  After an hour and a half, firefighters had the fire extinguished, but remained on the scene to monitor hot spots.
