Burn Ban In Effect For Lubbock County - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Burn Ban In Effect For Lubbock County

A burn ban is now in effect for Lubbock County.

Lubbock County Commissioners met late Friday evening to implement an emergency burn ban which remains in effect until a drought is over.

Other South Plains counties with burn bans include Borden, Crosby, Garza, Hale, Lamb, Lynn, and Yoakum. You can still buy fireworks, however sky rockets with sticks and missiles with fins will not be allowed.

Firefighters have been warning us about dry conditions all week. They tell us just one spark from a new year's firework could start a grass fire.

The fire is out but the damage is done and fire fighters say it's a warning to all of us.  A spark is all it takes to cause a major fire on open land.
