Transformer Ignites Grass Fire

A transformer blew Monday night sparking a grass fire in Wolfforth.

The fire ignited on Lubbock County owned land around 9:30 p.m. at 301 Dowden, just blocks from Frenship High School. Two gas tanks sat just feet away from the fire but firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread.

It is just one of several grass fires in the Lubbock area this past week.

Fire Destroys Two Lubbock Homes, Damages Another
It started with just one fire in a central Lubbock backyard, and by the time it was over, it destroyed two houses, damaged one and left two families homeless. NewsChannel 11's Kealey McIntire was on the scene and has more.
