Changes Proposed To Animal Ordinance, Public Comments Wanted - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

For the first time in 15 years, the City of Lubbock is making changes to its animal ordinance.

The proposed ordinance calls for: more enforcement power, it restricts tethering of an animal unless fenced in, it also puts a four pet limit in place, meaning no one can own more than four adult dogs or four adult cats unless you get a multi-pet permit, it requires identification and registration tags or micro chipping on all cats and dogs, and it does not include a cat leash law, but will require owners to get any roaming cats, registered, spayed or neutered and vaccinated.

A public hearing will be held Tuesday to discuss the ordinance before it's taken to city council in February. You must register at 6:30 to comment during the hearing. It's at city hall in council chambers.
