We've all seen them tumbling across the road or in a field, but then tumbleweeds start to pile up, and the city is offering some help.
"I called the city about this, because in the past I've always burned them when I was in the county, of course it's too dry to burn anyway, but they brought me a huge dumpster out here to put them in and they're going to haul them off for me," says Tony Bliss.
The City of Lubbock Solid Waste Department will bring a rolloff dumpster to your home or neighborhood if there's a lot of tumbleweeds, but they say it's better to tackle the tumbleweeds before they become a problem.
"If you get a few the first time, if they take care of them then, then it won't turn into a great mound," says Penny Morin, of City of Lubbock Solid Waste.
Again, if you just have one or two tumbleweeds, you need to take care of them. But if it's a bigger problem you can call the city and they will bring a rolloff dumpster to your neighborhood. If tumbleweeds are blocking streets or alleyways, the city will take care of them as well.
The number to call is (806) 775-2482.
