Well, we made it through the holiday season, but already today dozens of patients are waiting for life saving transfusions. That's because United Blood Services says it is again faced with a shortage. Part of the problem is while most of us were ringing in the new year with a long holiday weekend... The shelves at UBS were running dry. So now, all units are very low. In particular, there is a real need for negative blood types.
"Currently we are having trouble filing the negatives, AB-, O-, B-, A-, but we are in need of all blood types because we are not able to fill orders," says Les Long at United Blood Services. All donors will receive a free t-shirt. If you can help, please stop by UBS at 48th and University. They will be open until 6:00 p.m. tonight or call 741-1752 to make an appointment.
