Lubbock is under a red flag warning, meaning there is extreme fire danger for the area.
Signs are posted across the state indicating the danger and reminding everyone to adhere to the burn ban. During the burn ban, all outdoor burning is banned. Campfires are not allowed, but you can can cook outdoors in a grill. Outdoor fireplaces are permitted, but only use them if they are fitted with a spark-arrester on the chimney. And, make sure a fire extinguisher is nearby.
The burn ban will be in effect through March 27th and could be extended if the drought continues.
