They were used in combat in Southeast Asia nearly 40 years ago. Now, four refurbished U.S. Army helicopters will call Texas Tech home.
"I feel the Vietnam Center has the right message, the right interest and that's why I gave them the helicopters and I hope they can use them to educate kids," said Chuck Carlock.
Vietnam Veteran and author Chuck Carlock donated the helicopters to the Texas Tech Vietnam Center. The donation includes an AH-1 Cobra gunship, an OH-58 observation helicopter, a TH-55 training helicopter and a UH-1 Huey multi-purpose helicopter.
The aircraft will be stored off campus until they can be displayed in the Vietnam Center Museum and archive.
