Some Citizens Want to Change Name of Canyon Lakes Drive - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Someday soon the street signs on Canyon Lakes Drive could read Cesar E. Chavez Drive. That's the idea a group of citizens brought before the Lubbock Parks and Recreational Department Tuesday.

The group says Cesar was a civil rights leader who fought peacefully for migrant workers. They say Lubbock was once home to two migrant camps.

The idea will be presented to the City Council next month.
