High Rise Hotel In Works for Overton Park

The country's largest urban redevelopment project is aiming high. Overton Park will soon feature a first class, high rise hotel and conference center. Delbert McDougal, C.E.O. of McDougal Companies, made the official announcement at an on-site news conference Thursday. McDougal says they held up on the shopping center for a while, because the hotel is key in the development. He adds, "We will be actively soliciting restaurants and upscale businesses that will come in and we will be starting that over the next 90 days."

McDougal stopped short of saying which hotels are in the running but we do know Garfield-Traub is heading up its development. The $40 million structure will stand between nine and ten stories tall. It will be built at the northeast corner of 6th street and Avenue X.
