Senator Robert Duncan says his first priority is revamping the state school finance system. The comment comes after hearing speculation that he might be a candidate to replace Dr. David Smith as Chancellor of Texas Tech.
Dr. Smith announced his resignation Tuesday. Senator Duncan released this statement Thursday. "While it's flattering that my name has surfaced as a successor for this esteemed position, I am not a candidate. The legislature is preparing for a critical special session dealing with school finance. My focus is there."
