Firefighters Battle Blaze at Slaton Warehouse

Firefighters were on the scene of a Slaton warehouse fire for more than six hours. The warehouse was full of cotton that belonged to the Triangle Manufacturing Company. At least 17 firefighters battled the blaze since 4:30pm Sunday and firefighters say they will remain on the scene throughout the night. The warehouse is located in North Slaton, on 8th and Railroad Avenue. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

According to a press release a computer check showed four outstanding warrants for the driver, Hugo Cesar Hernandez, 35, of Ector County. Several bundles wrapped in plastic sat in the back seat of the truck. Further search revealed he was carrying 1,599.75 of marijuana. Hernandez was arrested and taken into federal custod...
