Possible Street Racing Sends Four to Hospital

Three people remain in critical condition after a three vehicle collision in Central Lubbock. Witnesses say two motorcycles were stopped at a light around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning and reportedly started racing when the light turned green. Just seconds later, the motorcycles collided with a car at 34th and Joliet. Witness Richard Sanchez says, "Two two bikes hit. I saw the passenger and driver of the blue bike take off flying. That's when I ran to them to make sure they were ok. I just told them not to move, be still, wait till help gets here."

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries. 22 year old Christopher Straub and his passenger, 18 year old Amber Carter are in critical condition at UMC. The driver of the other motorcycle, 24 year old Aaron Ray Smith is being treated for critical injuries at Covenant. His passenger, 21 year old Katie Goines was treated and released.
