Cotton Kings to Stay In Lubbock

The City Council says the Cotton Kings will be around another season. They were asked by a possible purchaser of the team to renegotiate the concessions contract but the city says they didn't have to make a decision because the current owners will be back next year.

Lubbock Mayor Marc McDougal says, "Until someone comes to us and bought the team and says we're leaving unless you fulfill these things, then we'll discuss it."

NewsChannel 11 first told you about the possible sale Wednesday when we learned a letter from fans was circulating asking the city to keep supporting the hockey team.
