Operation Freedom Call Connects Lubbock Families to Iraq
Eighteen Lubbock area families were able to talk to loved ones stationed in Iraq. It was part of Operation Freedom Call.
AT&T began connecting families to soldiers overseas around 8 a.m. Friday morning. It was a tele-conference call, so everyone could see and hear each other. Families say it's the next best thing to having there soldier here.
Sister of soldier Mark Scott, Mandy Owens says, "Words can't express, when you come in, the people, they laugh with you, cry with you. It means the world." Scott's daughter Savannah says, "It's very appreciated."
Thanks to the call, she learned her dad will be home in time for her graduation.
