Lubbock Man Charged with Drugs Near El Paso

A Saturday afternoon drug bust near El Paso stopped the delivery of about 18 pounds of marijuana to Lubbock. Twenty two-year-old Robert Sanchez Gonzales III is in the Culberson County Jail charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.

The sheriff there says Gonzales was stopped for a traffic violation about 120 miles East of El Paso on I-10. He was driving a rented SUV with a suspended license. Authorities searched the vehicle and found 17 bundles of marijuana, which the sheriff says is about 18 pounds with a street value of $14,000.

Gonzales is being held at the Culberson County Jail. He is expected to be arranged Sunday morning.
