A Texan is hospitalized with the plague and the exposure may have come from a county less than 110 miles from Lubbock.
The New Mexico Health Department believes the Texan was exposed to the plague while hunting and skinning rabbits on ranch in Lea County, New Mexico. That's just southwest of Lubbock across the state line.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
