A round of applause helped welcome the newest member of the Texas Tech Board of Regents and he's a student. Governor Rick Perry appointed Chad Greenfield to serve as the university's first student regent.
Greenfield says he's happy to listen in on the important issues, even though he can't vote. "The whole experience was a little surreal, because I'm 21. I'm sitting up there and being able to take part in some of the major decisions that are going to affect students and the university system as a whole," he says.
Greenfield is a senior exercise science major from Monahans. His term expires in one year.
