I-27 Recycling Center Fire - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

I-27 Recycling Center Fire

NewsChannel 11 caught the smoke on our tower cam just seconds after a fire started around 3pm Monday afternoon at I-27 Recyclers.

New Deal was first on scene and then they called out Abernathy, Lubbock, Shallowater and Idalou fire departments. It took them over an hour to extinguish the fire.

We spoke with the owner of this business and the fire started when contractors were cutting iron and sparked a flame.

"Out here, we take fire very seriously and especially after the last one, we try to prevent fires but this one we didn't have any control over," said Lance Webb, owner of I-27 Recyclers.

Lightning caught the center on fire last time.
