The Lubbock Police Department can use a new statistic to help recruit new officers. A national index called Police Pay ranks Lubbock number 11 in the nation for officer compensation. The ranking is based on a cost-of-living adjustment. Starting pay is over $38,000. Lt. Roy Bassett says, "We not only try to sell compensations. We're looking for people that want to make Lubbock a home and not just a stop on their way to the next job and that's something you can't factor into this and that's what a great place Lubbock is."
The Lubbock Police Department is hiring new officers right now. Applications must be in by five o'clock this Friday. You can pick one up at the City of Lubbock, police department or at the Police Academy or you can download one by ( clicking here ).
