Two Pedestrians Killed in Separate Weekend Accidents - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

We start in the 3000 block of Brownfield Highway where police say alcohol may have been a factor in this overnight fatality.

Police say just after 2:30am Sunday, 21-year-old Eric Chavez was driving East on Brownfield Highway. He struck a 60-year-old pedestrian who was walking in the roadway. The man died at University Medical Center. Charges are pending, but have not been filed as the investigation continues.

Then around 7:45pm Sunday, witnesses say an elderly woman was walking to church near 46th and Avenue Q when she was struck by a van that was going south on Avenue Q. Emergency medical workers say she died on the scene. Police are investigating this accident as well.
