If you prepare for the unexpected now, you'll know how to respond when disaster happens. That's what volunteers were doing at the Reese Technology Center Thursday. They're members of Community Emergency Response Teams on the South Plains or C.E.R.T.
During the mock disaster, members are able to showcase their skills in disaster preparedness, search and rescue, medical triage and more. Lisa Grindle says, "These people are being trained as leaders so they will go out into their community and train others. People trained in a disaster will be able to help themselves, family and others."
If you would like to volunteer, call the South Plains Association of Governments at (806) 762-8721.
