The dry spell may finally be over but the fire danger is not. Deputy State Fire Marshall Kelly Vandygriff says, "We're in as much danger today as we were a week ago because of the high winds and the dead grass."
Over the weekend, nearly an inch and a half of rain fell in Lubbock. Some areas of the South Plains got two inches. But despite all that, Vandygriff says the fire ban will not be lifted.
