Sounds a little science fiction, your cell phone with a mind of its own telling you, for example, "ummm...Notice you haven't taken your medicine today?".
That is real now thanks to a new gadget that melds cell phone text messaging with a pill bottle creating a system that actually reminds you by phone when to take your medication. It's called the "SimPill" device and it transmits a message to a central computer when you open your pill bottle. So, if you don't open that bottle at the specific time you're supposed to take that next pill your phone will ring and you'll see that text message on your phone.
The device has been in use overseas but has just recently became available in the US.
