Suspect Charged In Ransom Canyon Home Invasion

Charges have now been filed against the man who broke into a Ransom Canyon home and ended up being shot by the homeowner.

On Monday, Police charged Eric Ruben DeLeon with burglary of a habitation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 28-year-old is accused of breaking into a house in Ransom Canyon early Saturday morning. He allegedly stabbed 70-year-old Tom Ritter as he slept. Ritter and his wife both reached for their pistols in their night stands and opened fire. The wife shot DeLeon in the chest. He is still hospitalized at UMC.

Ritter, meanwhile, is at Covenant and is expected to recover.
