Every year, dozens of dogs and cats are abused and neglected. One local group is working to make sure they find a happy home. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta spent Tuesday morning at Petsmart telling us about the organization and an upcoming event..

Volunteers with the Humane Society of West Texas rescues neglected and abused animals. It's the Lubbock pet project, dogs are given foster homes and then made available for adoption

The Art for Animals Silent Auction is Thursday, March 30th at the Garden & Arts Center located at 42nd & University. Art from South Plains artists will be on display from 6-8:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the humane society.
