A Lubbock man was named a hero Tuesday after using CPR to save a stranger.
UMC Health System presented the Raymond B. Davis Citizen Hero award to Jay Townsend, a local landscaper who was getting gas at a 7-11 when he noticed another man lying on the ground with his wife in a panic calling 911.
"I could just tell that the guy was in really bad shape and nobody was really doing much and I just couldn't do nothing. He needed help and I couldn't just sit back and watch," recalls Jay of the incident.
Jay performed CPR according to the instructions of the 911 operator until paramedics could arrive. Way to go Jay Townsend!
